To the editor:

Just when I thought the Kansas University Athletic Department had gotten the message about the Oklahoma football game being played at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri, Athletic Director Lew Perkins states at half-time of the Chiefs game that the Lawrence community is totally behind such a game. Apparently, he needs to hire another associate athletic director to canvass the local merchants and get the REAL STORY.

Approximately $1 million is being sent to Missouri, which would normally be spent at the local businesses. Maybe I am all wet on this matter; maybe I just don’t understand high finances. This matter could all be just swept aside if KU will share the financial arrangements they have made so we can all understand. Maybe the local people who depend on football crowds to spend their money here will better appreciate this moving of the game if they just share with us all. As a famous line in a movie was recently uttered, “show us the money.”
