The Lied Center has hired Anthea Scouffas, a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, as the new director of education. Scouffas joins the Lied Center from Tucson, Ariz., where she was the community engagement director for UApresents at the University of Arizona from 2002 until 2004. She also served as the interim director at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Ill., in 2001.

Scouffas also has participated and shown leadership in her community as a board member of VOICES, Community Stories Past and Present Inc., the University of Arizona’s Department of Campus Life Diversity Committee and the Arizona-Mexico Commission on the Arts and Culture Committee, and as co-founder and co-chair of the Champaign County Cultural Consortium and chairwoman of the Consortium Arts Education Showcase Committee.
