Kansas soccer lands No. 5 seed for tourney

Kansas University’s soccer team earned the No. 5 seed and will faced fourth-seeded Nebraska on Wednesday in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament.

Game time is 1:30 p.m. at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio.

KU finished in a four-way tie for second in the conference.

Texas A&M finished conference play with a 7-2-1 record and 22 points to earn the top seed. KU, Colorado, Iowa State and Nebraska tied for second place with 19 points. Based on the Big 12 tiebreaker, Colorado was awarded the No. 2 seed, Iowa State the No. 3 seed, Nebraska the No. 4 seed and Kansas the No. 5 seed.

KU and NU played to a 0-0 tie earlier this season in Lincoln, Neb.

Wednesday’s winner will advance to face either Texas A&M or Missouri on at 4:30 p.m. Friday. That match can be seen on Fox Sports Net.
