AIDS mission

To the editor:

I was puzzled to read that the Douglas County AIDS project teamed up with pro-choice groups like National Organization for Women and Students for Reproductive Rights to protest the nomination of Harriet Miers. Are they suggesting a link between Miers and AIDS rates?

When the DCAP switched from “charitably” distributing condoms to participating in blatantly partisan rallies, it defied its name and became a political organization. As such, it should not have been allowed to fundraise at my school (Lawrence Free State) last spring. I hope DCAP will stick to AIDS, or at least clarify its mission, in the future.

John Murray,
