Another frosty morning, but 50s in afternoon

If you parked outdoors overnight, you probably have a little job to do before you drive off this morning, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“You will have to scrape that windshield. There’s widespread frost in eastern Kansas,” Schack said. “It’s another cold start to the morning.”

At 8:15 a.m., the temperature at the 6News studio in downtown Lawrence was 30 degrees, the humidity was 93 percent and winds were calm. The temperature had dropped as low as 28 degrees this morning, Schack said.

“There’s also some fog out there,” she said. However, it should burn off by 9 a.m., she said.

Today’s high will climb to 59 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, Schack said. The average high temperature for this date is 66 degrees, with the low 44. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 mph, she said.

“It’s going to feel a lot like fall today. But we will climb as we head into the weekend,” she said.

A few clouds might push into northeast Kansas overnight, Schack said. Thursday’s morning low will fall to 34 degrees, with some patchy frost possible again.

Thursday’s high will be 60 degrees, with winds from the east at 3 to 5 mph.

Friday morning’s low will be 38 degrees, with sunny skies and a high reaching 64 by Friday afternoon.
