Seahawks’ season ends with 5-1 loss to Piper

? The Seabury Academy boys soccer team ended its season with a first-round loss Monday in the Class 4-3-2-1A regionals, falling, 5-1, to host Kansas City Piper.

The Pirates (10-5-1) scored twice in the opening six minutes to seize control of the match.

“It was very hard to train for a week without a game and be prepared for the outstanding team speed that Kansas City Piper has,” Seabury coach Gunar Harmon said.

“We have this toxic habit of starting out real slow. … We never seemed to recover.”

The Seahawks (4-8-2) avoided the shutout with a late goal by junior forward Min Kyu Lee.

Overall, Harmon was encouraged by Seabury’s play during his inaugural season at the helm.

“I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of skill that we had,” Harmon said. “We competed well.”
