Temperatures drop near freezing mark

Lawrence was under a freeze warning through 9 a.m. today, as temperatures were expected to dip to 32 degrees or below, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We might not make it down that far,” Schack said. “Last year’s first freeze was Nov. 4.”

At 5:45 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 36 degrees, the humidity was 89 percent and the wind was from the northwest at 8 mph, making the wind chill 30 degrees.

Schack said Lawrence’s temperature would reach about 47 degrees by noon and 52 degrees at 4 p.m. Today’s high will reach 53 degrees, with sunny skies, but cool north winds at 5-12 mph.

Low temperatures may fall to the freezing mark again on Tuesday, Schack said.

“Frost is possible again,” she said.

Tuesday’s morning low will be 32, with Tuesday’s high reaching 55 degrees under mostly sunny skies, she said.

Cool morning temperatures are expected again on Wednesday. Wednesday’s low will be 33 degrees, with the high reaching 60 degrees, she said.
