Last service planned at Canterbury House
Lutheran Campus Ministry at Kansas University on Sunday will have one final worship service at Canterbury House, 1116 La.
The Episcopal Diocese of Kansas and LCM have partnered for years to have Canterbury House, which provided services for students and an office for Jubilee Cafe, a breakfast for the homeless and poor.
The diocese announced in January it would close Canterbury House, change its staffing and approach to campus ministry. Plans now call for Canterbury House to be remodeled.
Sunday’s service, at 5 p.m., will conclude with a procession to Bethany House, 18 E. 13th St., which is owned by Trinity Lutheran Church and will be the new home for LCM. Regular services will begin there at 5 p.m. Oct. 30.
Bethany House will serve as a temporary home for LCM. Leaders will look for a permanent home during this academic year.
