The Friends of Hidden Valley had its annual meeting Sept. 15 at Hidden Valley Camp. David Reber provided musical entertainment during the box dinner. Four board members were re-elected for a three-year term: Cris Bandle, Joe Collins, Ellyn Owen and Durand Reiber. David Owen was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for his work at the camp. A new name plate, bearing the name of Ellyn Owen, was added to the Hidden Valley Honored Friends Bench. The bench recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Hidden Valley Camp. The first honoree was Durand Reiber, founder of the Friends of Hidden Valley.

At the Sept. 13 board meeting, new officers were elected: Karen Warner, chairwoman; Margaret Townsend, vice chairwoman; Cris Bandle, treasurer; and Jill Giele, secretary. The Friends of Valley Board meets on the third Thursday every month.

¢ University Bridge Club announces the results of its Oct. 15 game. Hosts were Karmie and Edna Galle.

Blue winners were: Dale Kring, first; Harold Riehm, second; John Golden, third; Gladys Dight, fourth; and Tom Waller, fifth.

Pink winners were: Florence McNicoll, first; Jane Golden, second; Donna Riehm, third; Cathy Waller, fourth; and Wanda Kring, fifth.

¢ Soroptimist International of Lawrence is accepting applications for a $2,000 scholarship to be given in January. The Women’s Opportunity Award is a cash award that assists women in obtaining the skills and education they need to improve their employment status. Women are eligible to apply for a Women’s Opportunity Award if they are:

¢ A woman with primary responsibility for herself and dependents.

¢ Attending an undergraduate degree program or a vocational or skills training program.

¢ Have financial need.

Recipients may use the award for any expenses related to their educational pursuits.
