Church bell to toll for Iraq war dead
A Lawrence church bell will toll for an hour Saturday to commemorate those who have died in the Iraq war.
Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will have its bell toll once each minute between noon and 1 p.m. Each of the 60 tolls will represent about 1,500 American solders as well as Iraqi civilians and others who have died in the war.
The bell ringing will be part of a nationwide effort to draw people’s attention to the cost of human life in the war. It is being organized in Lawrence by the Coalition for Peace and Justice.
