Jay Simon, 88, a Kansas University graduate and former KU sports information director, died Friday in Green Valley, Ariz. A sports writer and editor, Simon retired as managing editor for Golf Digest. Prior to that he worked 12 years as the SID at KU. He also worked for newspapers the Daily Oklahoman, the Topeka State Journal and the Coffeyville Journal. Sylvia Simon, Jay’s wife of 47 years, died in 1991.
