Lawrence leader joins KC development board

Mike Maddox, already a major player in economic-development initiatives for Lawrence, is extending his efforts into the Kansas City metro area.

Maddox, president of Intrust Bank’s northeast Kansas region, is a new member of the board of directors for the Kansas City Area Development Council. The council markets the Kansas City area on behalf of 18 area counties, including Douglas County.

“It’s an honor to be a part of a great board of directors, and I look forward to working with everyone who’s involved,” Maddox said Monday.

Maddox already serves as chairman of the Lawrence-Douglas County Economic Development Board. He previously worked as community bank president for Intrust in Lawrence.

Maddox received bachelor’s and law degrees at Kansas University, where he was a member of the 1988 national championship men’s basketball team.
