Grant funds to be used to increase safety

Baker University in Baldwin has received a $200,000 grant to boost crime prevention efforts and promote a safe campus.

The Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women awarded the funds through Grants to Reduce Violent Crimes Against Women on Campus.

Baker will establish a women’s services coordinator in the BU Counseling Center and implement a violence prevention team consisting of university, police and victim advocacy personnel. Resources will be committed to increasing lighting and expanding the key-card security system.
