Sunny and warm afternoons through weekend

If you’re headed out to an area pumpkin patch in the next few days, take your sunglasses — mostly clear skies and warm weather have settled in.

“There’s a lot of sunshine and a lot of 70s all throughout our weekend,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “It’s a splendid extended forecast.”

At 8 a.m., the temperature was 45 degrees, the humidity was 96 percent and winds were calm at Lawrence Municipal Airport. Skies were mostly clear in downtown Lawrence, but there were reports of patchy fog in low-lying areas, Schack said.

“Be careful if you do run into some fog,” she said. The National Weather Service said the fog has reduced visibility in some low-lying areas to below a half mile. The fog is expected to burn off by 9 a.m.

“It looks like a great day,” Schack said. The high will reach 73 degrees by late afternoon, she said.

Clear skies will continue tonight, with a low reaching 48 degrees, she said. Friday’s high will reach 79 degrees under mostly sunny skies, she said.

Saturday’s morning low will be 49, with the high reaching 77 degrees, she said.
