Five area high schools will compete in the seventh annual Baker University Marching Band Festival at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Liston Stadium on the Baker campus.

Bands from Baldwin, Perry-Lecompton, De Soto, Tonganoxie and Ottawa will participate in the event. The De Soto Color Guard also will perform at the 12-team competition.

The event is free and open to the public.
