Lied Center announces exhibit, performances

“Conflict and Creativity: A Look at Israel and China,” will be on display in the Lied Center lobby until Oct. 24, with other events complementing the series.

The exhibit is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A lecture co-sponsored by the Lied Center and the Hall Center for the Humanities, “Conflict and Creativity: China: Dancing on the Wall,” will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the Hall Center for the Humanities Conference Hall. Cultural lecturers include Megan Greene, Kansas University history department, and John Kennedy, KU political science department. The artistic lecturer will be Joan Stone, KU music and dance department. This event is free as well.

Also planned is a performance by the Beijing Modern Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21. The dancers will perform “Rear Light,” a fusion of tradition and modernism set to a recording of “The Wall” by rock group Pink Floyd. Tickets are $23-$28 for the general public, available by calling 864-2787.
