Free State High’s Alysha Valencia and Kyra Kilwein took the top two spots Saturday in the girls race at the Haskell Invitational cross country meet at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Valencia won in a time of 14 minutes, 32 seconds, and Kilwein came in close behind in 14:38 to help the Firebirds to a third-place team finish with 66 points.

Seabury Academy’s Brooke Sutherland – the lone Seahawks participant – finished 45th in 20:39.

The Free State boys placed all five of its scoring runners in the top 16 to win the boys team title with 50 points, 12 better than runner-up Olathe South.

M.J. Hassaballa led the Firebirds, finishing third in 16:55. Spencer Martin also earned a top-10 position, finishing eighth in 17:33.

Adam Davis led Seabury Academy’s contingent, finishing 22nd in 18:10.
