MUSKOGEE, OKLA. ? Offensive woes continued to plague Haskell Indian Nations University’s football team Saturday.

HINU quarterbacks threw three interceptions and were sacked six times as Bacone College posted a 28-7 Central States Football League victory at the Indian Bowl.

Haskell held the Warriors to 16 rushing yards, but quarterback Derek Walster threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as Bacone boosted its record to 3-3.

“Our defense would play good for a while,” HINU coach Eric Brock said, “then we’d let the big play happen.”

Strong safety Randy Jackson led the Fightin’ Indians defense with two sacks and three tackles for losses. Middle linebacker John Sullivan had an interception.

But HINU quarterbacks Kaleb Harris and Jody Franklin completed just seven of 21 passes. Harris started, but aggravated an ankle injury just before halftime and didn’t return. Franklin played the entire second half.

“Offensively, we just couldn’t get it going,” Brock said.

Haskell (2-4) has lost four in a row and scored only three TDs in those four games.

“We need to get back to work,” Brock said. “We could really use a win now.”

Haskell will return to the Sooner State next week to meet Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla.
