Chamber Orchestra announces season

The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra’s new season opens Oct. 16 with a concert titled “Dances Around the World,” featuring dance-inspired music from Bela Bartük, Edvard Grieg and Edward Elgar, plus the premiere of a new and intriguing modern dance-like work, “Concert Piece for Strings,” by Lawrence area composer William Funk.

The concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center’s Performance Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children, and they can be purchased at the Arts Center, 940 N.H. or by calling 843-2787.

Future performances have been scheduled: “Twas the Night Before the Night Before,” by Lawrence flautist John Boulton and Friends, Dec. 23 at the arts center; the Baroque by Candlelight benefit concert Feb. 11 at Trinity Episcopal Church; and a Spring Celebration concert April 9 at the arts center.
