Cool weekend for football
If you’re headed out to a high school football game this evening, dress warmly. Temperatures will start falling into the 40s overnight, with the low bottoming out at 33 degrees by early Saturday morning.
“Some patchy frost will be possible around the area as some areas drop below the freezing mark,” said Matt Reith, 6News meteorologist. “Make sure you bundle up.”
At 4:15 p.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 57 degrees, with a 62 percent humidity and winds from the north at 13 mph. The average high temperature for this date is 74 degrees and the low is 52.
Skies will be mostly clear later today as clouds slowly move out, Reith said.
Make sure you have steaming coffee and hot chocolate on hand if you’re headed out to tailgate Saturday morning to Manhattan for the KU vs. K-State game.
Reith said by the 11 a.m. kickoff, skies will be mostly sunny, with temperatures in the mid 50s.
Saturday’s winds will come out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph, helping the temperature rise to a high of 63 degrees by late afternoon.
Sunday’s morning low will be 39, with the high climbing to 70 degrees by Sunday afternoon, he said.
