Kickoff for all games is 7 p.m.

Prairie View (1-4) at Baldwin (4-1)

Last week’s results: Prairie View lost to Wellsville, 35-12; Baldwin beat Ottawa, 55-27

Last year’s meeting: Baldwin won, 48-0

Quick hits: Baldwin quarterback Jeremy Wright continues to torment opposing defenses, and he had plenty of help last week from his backfield mates. The Bulldogs will look for another big outing against a Prairie View squad that’s had trouble keeping games close.

Troy (3-2) at McLouth (5-0)

Last week’s results: Troy beat Jackson Heights, 13-12; McLouth beat Valley Falls, 52-0

Last year’s meeting: Troy won, 14-0

Quick hits: McLouth has had its way on offense in 2005, averaging 44.6 points per game on its way to an unblemished start. While Troy doesn’t come close to that output, it will pin its hopes on a defense that’s surrendering just a shade over two touchdowns per game.

Mill Valley (2-3) at Santa Fe Trail (1-4)

Last week’s results: Mill Valley lost to Bonner Springs, 28-24; Santa Fe Trail lost to Tonganoxie, 32-7

Last year’s meeting: Mill Valley won, 36-12

Quick hits: Another week, another enigmatic effort by Mill Valley, which this time saw its defense fail to step up. Meanwhile, Santa Fe Trail is looking for a confidence boost after following up its gut-wrenching Week 4 loss to Perry-Lecompton with last week’s blowout setback to Tonganoxie.

Oskaloosa (1-4) at Wathena (0-5)

Last week’s results: Oskaloosa lost to Doniphan West, 50-15; Wathena lost to Pleasant Ridge, 82-6

Last year’s meeting: Wathena won, 36-14

Quick hits: Oskaloosa comes into tonight’s matchup on a bit of a short week, having had to play the second half of last week’s homecoming game on Monday due to a power failure. The Bears hope winless Wathena will allow them to regain their juice and continue their rebuilding effort.

Chanute (4-1) at Ottawa (2-3)

Last week’s results: Chanute beat Parsons, 23-16; Ottawa lost to Baldwin, 55-27

Last year’s meeting: Ottawa won, 28-7

Quick hits: Ottawa’s steady slide continued last week, with the Cyclones dropping their third straight contest after a promising 2-0 start. It won’t get any easier as a powerful Chanute ballclub comes north for a non-league visit.

Kansas City Piper (2-3) at Perry-Lecompton (5-0)

Last week’s results: Piper beat Leavenworth Immaculata, 27-0; Perry-Lecompton beat Kansas City Ward, 49-20

Last year’s meeting: Perry-Lecompton won, 21-12

Quick hits: Perry-Lecompton will look to complete a back-to-back sweep of the Kaw Valley League’s two Kansas City teams in just its second home date of the season. The Kaws’ stingy defense will face a new test courtesy of Piper’s preferred passing game.

Tonganoxie (4-1) at Basehor-Linwood (2-3)

Last week’s results: Tonganoxie beat Santa Fe Trail, 32-7; Basehor-Linwood lost to Columbus, 25-6

Last year’s meeting: Tonganoxie won, 55-14

Quick hits: Tonganoxie appears to be hitting its stride with district play just around the corner, rattling off its third straight convincing victory last week. Next up is a short trip east on Highway 24/40 to face an inconsistent Basehor-Linwood squad coming off a non-league loss.

Wellsville (3-2) at Osawatomie (1-4)

Last week’s results: Wellsville beat Prairie View, 35-12; Paola beat Osawatomie, 48-12

Last year’s meeting: Osawatomie won, 14-0

Quick hits: After a humbling loss in Week 3 dropped Wellsville below .500, the Eagles have responded with back-to-back solid efforts in victories over De Soto and Prairie View. On deck is an Osawatomie squad licking its wounds after last week’s one-sided non-league setback.
