Public invited to showcase quilts

Organizers of the Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show are looking for participants to display their work for the Oct. 15-16 event.

Quilts of any type and age are allowed; there is no judging and no entry fee. Quilts must have a hanging sleeve.

Quilts may be dropped off from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center, Sixth and Chapel streets. They also may be dropped off at Quilter’s Paradise, 713 Eighth St., Baldwin, the week before the show.

A workshop and lecture will be offered in conjunction with the show. Ellen Heck will lead an applique workshop for advanced quilters from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at 261 E. 1250 Road; the cost is $55, which includes lunch. She also will offer a free lecture, “My Journey in Quilt Making,” from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Owens Musical Arts Building at Baker University.
