Burras arrested, charged after incident

Former Kansas University women’s basketball player Aquanita Burras has been charged with domestic battery and criminal trespass after an incident Sunday in the 2600 block of Surrey Drive.

Police said Burras, 23, was suspected of going to the home of a former roommate, refusing to leave and battering the woman. According to court records, the woman Monday received a temporary protection-from-abuse order against Burras in District Court.

The woman alleged in paperwork filed in court that she had been in a relationship with Burras for two years but that they broke up Aug. 1 and that Burras moved out of the residence Sept. 17.

According to court records, Burras lives at Jayhawker Towers, 1603 W. 15th St., has been working at Best Buy and receives $530 per month from the university.
