The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club’s Sept. 21 game was directed by Chris Lane. Six tables played a stratified Howell movement. Patt Radford and Lois Clark won first in A, followed by Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges. Shirley Reese and Shirlie Vaughn won third in A and first in B, and Gary and Mary Joyce placed first in C and second in B.

¢ The Wednesday Evening Bridge Club’s Sept. 21 game played five tables in a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Don Brennaman. Addie Nyquist and Alice Leitch won first overall at North-South. Barb and Bill Hamilton took second in A, B and C, followed by Bob Anderson and Betty Spalsbury at third in all three strata.

Bobby and Elle Patton won first in A, B and C playing East-West. Second was taken by Shari Krentzel and Virginia Hamilton and third place was won by Mary Beth Treece and Steve Rego.

¢ The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club’s Sept. 23 game consisted of six-and-a half tables directed by Don Brennaman in a stratified Mitchell movement.

The North-South pairs were led by Jo Andersen and Ilse Steinhardt, who won first in A, B and C. Shirley Reese and Yvonne Hedges won second in A, and Cathy Blumenfeld and Lynn Hui won third in A and second in B and C.

Harry Shaffer and Lois Clark won first in A playing East-West. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro were second in A, and Gary and Mary Joyce won third in A and first in B and C.

¢ The Sunday Afternoon Bridge Club played a five-and-half-table stratified Club Championship game directed by Chris Lane. Clyde Romer and Ken McCullough won first overall and first in A, followed by Chris Lane and Virginia Seaver in second. Lois Jones and Dorothy Netson were third. Eldon and Glenna Herd won first in B, and Barbara Figgins and Harriet Olson were second in B and first in C.

¢ The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at 12 tables directed by Virginia Seaver. Kent McCullough and Larry Bodle were first among the North-South pairs, winning first in A. Lois Clark and Harry Shaffer won second in A, and Chris Lane and Shirley Reese were third in A and first in B. Clyde Romer and Jeff Nash were second in B, and Pat Burgstahler and Margrete Hartman were first in C.

Dave Piro and Pete Petillo won among East-West pairs with first in A. Second in A was won by Paul Heitzman and Donna Johnson, and Shirlie Vaughn and Sally Taylor were third. Mike and Cathy Blumenfeld won first in B and C, followed by Mary Beth Treece and Mary Joyce, who were second in B and C.

¢ University Bridge Club announces the winners of its Sept. 24 game. Hosts were Vera Hadl, Mary Kanous, and Paul and Carolyn Jordan.

Blue winners were: Iva Koleber, first; Al Smith, second; Ray Ikenberry, third; Florence McNicoll, fourth; and Dan Harden, fifth. Pink winners were: Aileen Bocquin, first; Carol Smith, second; Dottie Miller, third; Bebe Huxtable, fourth; and Edna Galle, fifth.

¢ The Lawrence Area Mortar Board Alumni Club will be host to the Kansas University Mortar Board chapter at its fall potluck supper Oct. 9 at the home of Mary Loveland. New alumni in the area are welcome and encouraged to call Mary Gordon, secretary, or Evelyn Senecal, president, for details.
