Mizzou moves past Roos

? Missouri fought through the rust of a nine-day layoff Tuesday to beat the University of Missouri-Kansas City 60-42.

Thomas Gardner led the Tigers with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the first-ever meeting between the two schools, a game that was anything but pretty.

Missouri (2-1) committed 20 turnovers and the Kangaroos had 14. The teams combined for 13 assists in the game, and neither team hit double digits until more than 12 minutes were gone in the first half.

UMKC (2-1) shot 24 percent.

No. 2 Texas 82, Texas-Pan American 54

Austin, Texas – LaMarcus Aldridge scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and No. 2 Texas shook off poor shooting in the first half to win.

P.J. Tucker added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Longhorns (6-0), off to their best start since winning their first 14 games in the 1981-82 season.

Ames, Iowa – Curtis Stinson scored 19 points, Anthony Davis had a career-high 15 and Iowa State played solid defense in beating Northern Iowa.

Colorado 78, Penn 60

Philadelphia – Richard Roby scored 22 points and Chris Copeland added 20 as Colorado pulled away in the second half and defeated Penn. Roby hit five of 10 shots, plus four of four from three-point range.

Women

UA-Little Rock 64, Oklahoma State 54

Stillwater, Okla. – UALR went on a 24-4 run near the end of the first half and never looked back, holding off the Cowgirls. Whitney Pegram led Oklahoma State with 11 points.
