Haskell forum to address late author’s legacy

Haskell Indian Nations University will conduct a forum on the legacy of Vine Deloria Jr. from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today in the Regents Room at Navarre Hall.

A scholar and author of the best-selling “Custer Died for Your Sins” and “God is Red,” Deloria died Nov. 13. He was 72.

Forum speakers will be Haskell professors Dan Wildcat and Julia Good Fox and Michael Yellow Bird, director of the KU Center for Indigenous Nations Studies.

Deloria served as executive director of the National Congress of American Indians and taught history at the University of Colorado. He was a regular visitor to the Haskell campus.

The free forum is open to the public.
