KU volleyball gets berth into NCAAs

Kansas University’s volleyball team is becoming a fixture in the NCAA Tournament.

The Jayhawks (15-14) earned their third straight bid Sunday and will meet UCLA (18-10) in a first-round match at 10 p.m. Friday at Pauley Pavilion on the Bruins’ campus in Los Angeles.

Friday’s winner will play the winner of the match between Long Beach State (25-6) and San Diego (22-5) at 9 p.m. Saturday.

“We are still adjusting our personnel to accommodate injuries, but really looking forward to extending our season at least another week,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “We are very excited for our seniors especially, who have worked so hard for this third straight bid. It is exciting to not have our season end with a disappointing loss, but instead have the opportunity of postseason play.”
