Permits available for charity raffles

Non-profit organizations in Kansas devoted to wildlife conservation have a new fund-raising opportunity.

The legislature approved provisions for annual issuance of a limited number of Wildlife and Parks big game permits. The permits can be auctioned or raffled to raise money for conservation groups.

Seven permits will be available – five deer, one elk and one antelope. An organization awarded a permit would pay the established fee.

Applications are available by calling Wildlife and Parks at 620-672-5911 or by e-mailing sheilak@wp.state.ks.us. The application deadline is Jan. 6. The drawing will be Jan. 19.
