— A Lawrence woman was among the 12 people arrested Wednesday near President Bush's ranch.

Lauren Sullivan and the other protesters were released on their own recognizance later in the day and will have court appearances in January.

The group camped out in or along a ditch to challenge a new county ordinance preventing them from doing so.

"The ordinance needed to be challenged," Sullivan said in a telephone interview late Wednesday night.

There were no problems with the sheriff's officers, and the group cooperated with them, Sullivan said.

Sullivan was in Crawford last summer for the anti-war protests led by Cindy Sheehan.

Why is it that people like this Sullivan always feel the need to challenge every little thing that comes down the pipe?

So, is this wench a 'professional protestor'? no visible means of support? a trust baby, a limmo liberal?
wonder, did the texas cops feed her kentucky fried chicken too?

and, why is this even in our paper? is this even damned news at all?

when the paper prints this, how about balancing it with an article about some one contributing positively, and supportive of maintaining our security?

just because Lauren Sullivan calls you on her batphone, do you have to print it???

I'm glad she's there reminding the president of what a monumenally bad choice he made in going to war in Iraq. He's pretty stubborn and close-minded, but as long as people like Lauren are able to let him know that we are aware of the bad news coming out of Iraq, and his responsiblity for creating this disaster, someday even he might be forced to find even marginally better solutions than the muddled thinking we've gotten up to now.

I meant to add, under 'why is this even printed in the paper' that this was a pitifully small, pitifully dismal, pitifully stupid little protest...a dozen protestors? WAAAH!

can I get KFC if I protest the protestors? ... when will this paper offer some balance when covering the scruffies' little protests?

Lawrence IS a leftist town, I want it to stay a leftist town, and frankly if the right wing "looneys" don't like it....they can move to Topeka. I support the protestors 100%. The presidency is a joke, and it's beginning to turn the WHOLE Republican Party into a (bigger) joke. It's a sinking ship and all I can say is "I told you so."

Its the liberal democrats pointing the finger at the republicans. It was the damnocrats that said lets bomb Iraq, or we know Sadaam has WMD and has to be "dealt" with. Then when the sh*t hit the fan they said. Uh...uh...uh I don't know uh.....what your talking about. All Bush is doing is finishing something the previous administration started and screwed up big time. So for you Liberal Micheal Moore watching zombies, learn who started this mess in '97.

back to the topic of this thread: does Miss Sullivan also subscribe to the highly antisemitic views of Cindy Shewolf or the people Shewolf runs with, ascerting that there is a massive, world-wide "black helicopter" world control conspiracy to favor Israel? and, that the Palestinian homicide bombers can be excused there little transgressions, after all, they're only blowing up innocent Israelis.

'DARREEKKU,' funny definition of how the republican party is failing, winning in every election of the last four?
you are engaging in some deep wishful thinking, not constructive.

let's do things right in Iraq, not give in to the whiney wheenies who want to surrender to terrorists. that is, by the way, what they are really pushing for!
