Lawrence woman among dozen arrested

? A Lawrence woman was among the 12 people arrested Wednesday near President Bush’s ranch.

Lauren Sullivan and the other protesters were released on their own recognizance later in the day and will have court appearances in January.

The group camped out in or along a ditch to challenge a new county ordinance preventing them from doing so.

“The ordinance needed to be challenged,” Sullivan said in a telephone interview late Wednesday night.

There were no problems with the sheriff’s officers, and the group cooperated with them, Sullivan said.

Sullivan was in Crawford last summer for the anti-war protests led by Cindy Sheehan.
