Cruelty suspected in dog killings

A Douglas County man reported that an unknown person shot and killed two of his dogs this week.

The dogs, a German shepherd mix and a mixed breed, were found Monday along the road near the man’s home in the 200 block of North 850 Road. One had been shot in the face and the other had been shot in the head.

The dogs were found by someone who was caring for them while their owner was out of town, Douglas County Undersheriff Steve Hornberger said. Deputies are classifying it as a possible case of animal cruelty.
