City Manager Wildgen wins excellence award

Lawrence City Manager Mike Wildgen has received the top award of excellence from a statewide association of government managers.

Wildgen received the Kansas Association of City/County Management’s Buford M. Watson Jr. Award of Excellence at the association’s conference last week in Overland Park.

The award was established in 1988 to recognize professional government managers who have demonstrated continued management excellence.

Association President Kent Hixson will present the award at the Dec. 13 City Commission meeting. The award is named in honor of longtime Lawrence City Manager Buford M. Watson Jr. Wildgen previously worked as an assistant to Watson.
