Student charged with bringing bomb to school

? A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after a homemade chemical bomb exploded inside Manhattan High School.

No one was injured, and damage to the school was minor, police said in a news release.

Manhattan High School Principal Terry McCarty said the student showed the bomb to friends about noon outside the school. When the bomb did not detonate, McCarty said the student brought the device inside the school, where it exploded.

The student, who faces a charge of criminal use of an explosive, was released to a parent, police said.

McCarty said the student could face disciplinary action, ranging from a one-week suspension to a one-year expulsion.
