Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 22, 1905: “Barney Hill, the young man struck by a train near here yesterday, lived only an hour. Burial will be in DeSoto. : Quarterback Hart of the university football team suffered a severe neck injury in a scrimmage with the scrubs and may not play again this year. He had been slightly injured in the victory over Washburn but seemed to have recovered until last night. : Every patron of the fine arts will be impressed at the beautiful color effects in the pictures of Tissot, now on exhibition at the university. “The Death of Moses” as painted by Tissot is a wonderful conception. : An Illinois man claims he shucked 162 bushels of corn in nine hours, which few, if any, believe, including members of his family.”
