Sunshine makes a return

Say goodbye to the weekend’s drizzly, gray skies and pull out the shades.

“Sunshine returns to Lawrence today,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “It looks like a nice start to the work week.”

Lawrence had 0.4 of an inch of precipitation on Saturday and Saturday evening, Schack said. But the wet weather and the dreary clouds moved out about 11 p.m. Sunday, leaving mostly clear skies at 8:15 a.m. today. At that time, the temperature was 28 degrees, the humidity was 92 percent and winds were from the northwest at 3 mph.

Temperatures will be warming up to 36 degrees by 9 a.m. and to 51 degrees by noon, Schack said.

“I think we’ll see a few more clouds this afternoon,” Schack said.

Today’s high is expected to top out at 57 degrees, Schack said. Winds will be from the west-northwest between 5 and 12 mph.

Overnight the low will fall to 31 degrees by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday’s high will be 54 degrees.

Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week, with the low starting at 33 degrees and the high reaching 61 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.

“It looks like temperatures will be cooling off for the Thanksgiving holiday,” Schack said.

Temperatures are expected to start at 30 degrees and climb to only 46 degrees by Thursday afternoon, she said.
