Holiday Bazaar Sunday

Vicki Davis works on crafts year-round, but she especially enjoys shows closer to Christmas time.

“Working on things so far ahead of time, it kind of stretches the holidays a little,” Davis said.

The Leavenworth native and receptionist at the Kansas Speedway will be one of about 100 area exhibitors selling homemade arts and crafts in Lawrence on Sunday.

The 29th annual Holiday Bazaar arts and crafts show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Community Building at 115 W. 11th St.

While she has entered craft shows for about 30 years, Davis said Sunday will be her first time entering a Lawrence exhibit. Her friend suggested that she enter.

Davis said she will enter several holiday directions, but she also knits teddy bears that wear National Football League or NASCAR insignia.

“I kind of put NASCAR into my crafts, being a fan and working at the Speedway and being a former racer,” she said.

During Sunday’s show, local groups will also perform holiday music.

In the past, the event has drawn 4,000 to 5,000 people, said Duane Peterson, special event supervisor for the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.
