Kennedy School officials filed a report with police Tuesday after realizing a fourth-grade student had brought a pocketknife to school.

In keeping with the Lawrence school district’s policy, the student was suspended.

School officials on Thursday sent letters home with students, reminding parents of the prohibition against bringing weapons to school.
