From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 18, 1905: “The city is getting mighty tired of being in darkness. The citizens have stood by the council in their efforts to get lights in dark areas but the council has not responded sufficiently and action is needed immediately. . . . The quail season is now open and will last one month.”
