KU softball team inks five players

Amanda Jobe, a first baseman-outfielder from traditional power Shawnee Mission Northwest, heads a list of five Kansas University softball signees.

Jobe, a left-handed hitter, batted .407 last spring as a junior for the Class 6A state runner-up Cougars while earning second-team all-state honors.

KU coach Tracy Bunge also announced these signings:

¢ Janice Damo, a pitcher-

outfielder from Tulare, Calif. A first-team all-stater, she hit .500 as a junior and posted a 19-3 record on the mound with 17 shutouts.

¢ Tracy Lubken, a centerfielder from Scottsdale, Ariz. Lubken batted .398 in summer ball with a .458 on-base percentage.

¢ Sara Ramirez, a middle infielder from Pacoima, Calif., who earned first-team all-league honors as a junior.

¢ Sarah Vertelka, a right-handed pitcher from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Vertelka is a two-time league MVP and has been named all-county the last two years.
