Old home town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 17, 1905: There is a strong possibility that the Kansas-Haskell football game may be called off. Manager Lansdon of KU and the Haskell coaches, Hill and Ellick, failed to come to any agreement about the eligibility of some of the Haskell players. At issue is whether some of the Haskell players may be getting paid. Kansas has lost only to Colorado and Haskell has only one loss, to Oklahoma. . . The death in Leavenworth of a ditch-digger from New Orleans is alleged to be due to yellow fever, which was caused by malaria.
