A&M ends Kansas’ volleyball streak

? Kansas University’s Emily Brown and Josi Lima established career highs for kills, but it wasn’t enough for the Jayhawks to extend their volleyball winning streak.

KU’s streak ended at three after a 3-2 loss to Texas A&M on Wednesday at G. Rollie White Coliseum.

Texas A&M (13-12 overall, 6-10 Big 12 Conference) won the match, 32-30, 28-30, 24-30, 30-28, 15-9. KU fell to 15-12 and 7-11.

Brown led KU with a career-best 25 kills and added 10 digs and 5.5 blocks. Lima totaled 22 kills and just three errors for a team-high .404 hitting efficiency and contributed 12 digs and 3.5 total blocks.

Paula Caten added 14 kills and nine digs, and Jamie Mathewson paced the KU defense with 18 digs.

Andi Rozum ran the offense with a match-high 69 assists and added 11 digs and five kills. Savannah Noyes rounded out the KU offense with eight kills.

The Jayhawks hit .251 in the match; outblocked A&M, 14-10; and outdug the Aggies, 77-75.

All-American Laura Jones led the Aggies with 28 kills and 18 digs.

Off Saturday, the Jayhawks will play host Wednesday to Border War rival Missouri in the final home match for seniors Lima, Rozum and Caten.

Match time is 7 p.m. at Horejsi Center.

MU is ranked 11th nationally.
