Acting SRS secretary to fill spot permanently

? Gary Daniels, who has been acting secretary of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services since 2004, was named secretary by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

“Gary is well respected across our state, and we’re fortunate he has accepted this challenge,” Sebelius said.

Daniels had been superintendent of the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 15 years. Since 1962, he has also been a psychologist and social work specialist.

Daniels replaced Secretary Janet Schalansky when she retired in 2004.
