Cavs’ James won’t sit down
Cleveland standout nets 37 in win over Washington
Cleveland ? Every time Luke Jackson got up off the bench, LeBron James knocked down another shot.
“If LeBron is hitting three-pointers, you’ve got to let him keep rolling,” Jackson said. “Nobody has a problem with leaving him in when he’s like that.”
James scored a season-high 37 points, and Larry Hughes added 22 in his first game against his former team as the Cleveland Cavaliers roughed up the Washington Wizards, 114-99, Tuesday night.
James, who helped recruit Hughes as a free agent to Cleveland during the offseason, scored just two points in the first quarter but followed with 14 in the second, 14 in the third and seven in the fourth before leaving with 2:32 left.
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown tried to substitute for James “three or four times” in the first quarter, but it seemed like as soon as Jackson vacated his seat and headed for the scorer’s table, James responded with big plays.
“I hit a couple threes and a dunk, and I saw the guy who was coming to get me sit back down,” said James, who added 10 rebounds in 42 minutes.

Cleveland's Drew Gooden, left, and Washington's Antawn Jamison battle for position under the basket. Gooden scored 10 points in the Cavs' 114-99 victory Tuesday night in Cleveland.
Brown felt bad for Jackson and tried to make him feel better.
“I kissed him on the forehead one time,” Brown said. “But that’s kind of embarrassing for an NBA player.”
The Cavaliers won their fifth straight and are 4-0 at home, winning by an average of 21 points at Quicken Loans Arena.
Hughes was only 7-of-19 from the field, but he added eight assists and made two three-pointers and scored 12 points in the final 5:03 to thwart a Wizards rally. Donyell Marshall added 16 points, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 for the Cavs.
Washington’s Gilbert Arenas, who scored a league-high 43 on Saturday night against San Antonio, was held to 18.

Dallas – Dirk Nowitzki scored 11 of his season-high 35 points in the fourth quarter, and DeSagana Diop blocked a layup attempt by Carmelo Anthony with 2.9 seconds left, helping Dallas overcome a 19-point deficit.

Heat 109, Hornets 102, OT
Miami – Dwyane Wade scored Miami’s final eight points in the fourth quarter, and James Posey and Gary Payton each hit a key three-pointer in overtime to help the Heat rally.
Wade finished with 25 points and 10 assists, but it was his play down the stretch during regulation that gave the Heat a chance to win their third straight game without center Shaquille O’Neal.
With Miami trailing 90-83 with 1:59 left, Wade scored the final seven points.
Pistons 115, Celtics 100
Auburn Hills, Mich. – Chauncey Billups scored 17 of his 25 points in the third quarter to help Detroit improve to 7-0 with a come-from-behind victory over Boston. The Pistons overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half to record the third-best start in team history, trailing 1970-71 (9-0) and the championship team of 1988-89 (8-0).
