From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 14, 1905: “The Union Pacific will offer low rates of one fare and one-third for the round trip to many points in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania for those wishing to spend Thanksgiving with friends in the East. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 27. . . . Stranger Valley people have deposited $1,000 in cash to move along toward an electric line and there is evidence they will have some success in their quest.”
