KU rowing team closes fall season with victory

? The Kansas University rowing team closed out its fall season by winning the 10th annual Sunflower Showdown with Kansas State, 14-10, Saturday.

The Jayhawks broke the Wildcats’ three-year win streak. The showdown, held on Tuttle Creek Lake, was a 2,000-meter, side-by-side race format.

KU won the first varsity eight, the second novice eight and the varsity four to earn its final point total, while Kansas State came out on top in the second varsity eight and first novice eight.

“I am really excited about our win against Kansas State,” KU coach Rob Catloth said. “We have been rowing and playing hard all fall season. This win ends the season on a great note.”

The Jayhawks will open their spring season March 23 against SMU in Dallas.
