Designer hooks into folksy CEO art

OK, so you’re more likely to see a latch-hook rug hanging over somebody’s kitchen table than in a corner office. But a Brooklyn graphic designer has brought the medium into the boardroom.

Rob Conger, who holds a master’s degree in sculpture from Yale, has created a series of 15 carpet images of philanthropic CEOs.

Since doing the portrait of Target Corp. Chairman and CEO Bob Ulrich, he’s sold three more of the 32-inch by 24-inch rugs for about $4,000 each, including one bought by the family of former J.C. Penney Co. chairman and chief executive Allen Questrom.

Conger said he spends between 20 and 40 hours on each one, while juggling a day job as a graphic designer at an advertising firm.
