Temperatures to climb into the 60s

Temperatures falling into the 20s created frosty windshields this morning for many motorists who left their vehicles outside overnight.

“It’s a crisp, cold fall morning,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. “It is very chilly outside.”

At 7:45 a.m., the temperature was 26 degrees, the humidity was 88 percent and winds were calm. Skies were mostly sunny, but some high clouds were working in from the west, Reith said.

“Today, we see a nice rapid climb in temperatures,” Reith said. The temperature will climb to 36 degrees by 9 a.m. and to 51 by noon.

Today’s high temperature will reach 62 degrees by late this afternoon, with mostly sunny skies and southwest winds at 5-10 mph, he said.

“Those southerly winds will help keep us a little warmer tonight,” Reith said. The temperature will drop to a low of 39 degrees by early Friday morning.

If you’re heading out to a Veterans Day celebration, you’ll find temperatures warming on Friday to a high of 72 degrees, with 10- to 15-mph winds out of the south.

Reith says there’s a likely chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday. The National Weather Service predicts a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with breezy winds between 15 and 20 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph.

Saturday’s morning low will be 49 degrees, with the high reaching 66 degrees, Reith said.
