Rust-tinged tap water continued to be a source of concern for a number of local residents, many of them in the eastern sector of the city. City Hall was attempting to solve the problem.

Morris Kay, Kansas Republican chairman from Lawrence, said he would decide in about a month whether to seek a second two-year term as party chief. There was talk he might make another bid for the governorship in 1982. He earlier had made an unsuccessful bid against four-term Democrat Robert Docking, also of Lawrence.
