To the editor:

What a relief! Gas prices are diving as fast as George W. Bush's poll ratings! If public opinion stays critical of the president, does that mean we can depend on lower fuel costs this winter?

Sure, go ahead and believe that if you want. Although I am not certain it will work. Better yet would be to incourage the Intelligent Designer to think up some new pockets of natural gas.

Gas prices right now are still higher than they were a year ago. What does that mean? That means that gas prices next summer will most likely be as high, if not higher than they were this summer.

Want to lower them? Encourage your congressman to require the oil companies to use a windfall tax on developing new refining capacity that isn't on the coasts, including all the environmental regulations.

Take up riding bikes, walking and using the T. These are more fun, perfect for dating and good for our health.

Wait till the winter gas bills start coming in then you'll see what the energy giants have on their minds....yes they are still wanting our wallets. The 2006 elections are coming up. Jim Ryun stands behind/beside the oil people.

They jacked up the price of gas to make us feel good about the current price. Next time around they will take gasoline higher to make us feel good about $3.50 per gallon. 2006 elections are coming so vote out Jim Ryun friend of the oil barons and not a friend of public schools.
