To the editor:

B.J. Ammel's letter, which you published Nov. 2, gave me pause as I sincerely believed that I had written you the most daring letters of 2005 outlining my views on the slaughter of American young people in Iraq, the kids and their abortion views, and the manner in which to provide more education funds for the state.

Little did I know about the Antichrist's role in all the problems in the state of Kansas and in the country in general. Now that I am enlightened by Ammel, I see how everything fits into place - intelligent design "theory," anti-abortion efforts, stickers on textbooks, a new shade of blue for KU, and Iraqis' delight in killing young Americans. Obviously, all the work of the Antichrist.

We in Lawrence are fortunate, however, in having been assured that the new Jerusalem is to be located, geographically, very near to us, outside of Independence, Mo.

Religion is fascinating and important in our lives. So is current reality.

Robert E. Anderson,

Lawrence

and obviously you have neither religion nor reality.

Even more obvious: few readers of this letter, at least, recognize sarcasm and verbal irony.

Thank you for that lovely tongue-in-cheek presentation, Mr. Anderson.
