Warm and breezy this afternoon

You might want to grab a jacket this morning. But you won’t need it this afternoon.

“Temperatures will be soaring into the 70s,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “It’s going to be a warm start to the work week.”

Lawrence was getting off to a cool, but sunny, start. At 8:15 a.m., the temperature was 45 degrees, the humidity was 68 percent and winds were from the east-southeast at 7 mph.

Schack said temperatures will climb to 75 degrees today, which is well above the average high temperature for this date of 58 degrees. Skies today will be mostly sunny, with winds 8 to 15 mph from the south, gusting to 20 mph, she said.

“I think we’ll have a mix of clouds and sun today,” Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 53 degrees by early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with the temperature reaching up to 80 degrees in the afternoon, Schack said. Skies will be partly cloudy and winds will be out of the south at 5 to 15 mph, gusting to 20 mph, Schack said.

Wednesday brings cooler temperatures. Wednesday’s morning low will start at 48 degrees, then a cold front moves in. The cold front will keep Wednesday’s high to only 57 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.
